M. Phil. Or Master of Philosophy is an advanced two-year postgraduate research degree, which includes one year of study and one year of the dissertation, and is expected to provide the smooth transition for people aspiring to do a Ph. D. It’s available in various streams like English, Maths, Humanities and Management. It is available both as a full-time course and also as a part-time course.

One must possess a master’s degree in science, arts or engineering. Students who have secured minimum 55% in the respective subject can apply for M. Phil. in that subject. Some universities may conduct an entrance test for admissions and others may consider your NET or SET score.
There is no age limit to apply for M. Phil.
It’s basically a two-year course but people who have opted for Ph. D. may complete it in three years. It can be extended maximum to four years.
Fee structure, application and selection procedure, vary from University to University, Fee may range for 35,000 INR a year to 1,00,000 INR a year based on the university you are applying for.
